Storytelling is primal – it reaches to the core of each of us. It is not always a conscious element of a group, but it is one of the most powerful and simplest tools to wield. Humans connect using storytelling. We want to understand relationships between characters, ideas, and elements. Our curiousity drives us to explore these stories and in doing so we explore the values of the collective, and the “why” & “how” of the group.
Once we comprehend these relationships it allows the mind to use relativity creating a scale of importance (which becomes the moral compass of the collective), decision making is easier and more transparent as choices can be judged in relation to the vision of the future we are aspiring to create. Individuals find meaning by contributing to this vision of the future, diving their dedication and commitment. We could continue on about the benefits of storytelling but to be concise it is POWERFUL.
“Growing a culture requires a good storyteller. Changing a culture requires a persuasive editor.” Ryan Lilly
